3 States of Matter

Did you know that the particles in solid are very close together so they can form a solid shape? That's what Tara from Room 4 learnt. This is Tara's awesome animation about the 3 common states of matter. Tara really hopes her information on her animation taught you something.

Jordan's 3D Printer Design

On Monday we got the 3D Printers in Class and it was EPIC.Our 3D Printing mentor Fashid said that we were to make a Phone Case so I got straight to work. First I made a Rectangle and put it on the blank canvas on Tinkercad and then I started moulding into the iPhone Case I moulded the case using a fillet which is basically  making the corners round. To make the corners round you have to make a sqaure the put a hole that covers ¾ of the sqaure like this:and then group the two shapes together .

It was very hard to mould it because I needed exact measurements but eventually I moulded it into this:

So I Printed it out but it was just a bit too small so I adjusted some measurements and Printed it out again but the machine stopped working.

One of the hardest things about 3D Printing is getting the correct Measurements I had to adjust the measurements 5 times before I printed it out for the first time then I had to adjust the measurement after I printed out in the wrong size so I have changed the measurements 6 times.The reason getting the correct measurements is so hard is because you have to make it just bigger than the phone you are making the case for. Maybe next time I will make a Harry Potter themed phone case with the iconic Harry Potter glasses and the Lightning bolt scar.

Verbal bullying ad

In room 7 we have been making verbal bullying ads. We did one in small groups of 4 and we did a whole class one. For our whole class add some people got together to make a script we then sat on the mat and everybody picked a line in the script. We found a quite place to video and Jordan videoed us saying our line. Then Mrs Paniora put it all together and it turned out really good.

The Zoo Trip

When I turned back in time…

I am 10 years old, and I am standing in the middle of the Auckland Zoo.

The tunnels are crowded with excitement and people are crawling.

The noise is as quiet as a mouse & sometimes I want to scream to break the silence.

Every minute there is a noise of something… Something about to happen.

It is nearly the end of the tunnel.

It is getting brighter now.

The tunnels are getting shorter & shorter by the minute like a candle burning away.

Everything is light & bright.  Fresh & clean & clear again.

Katie (Bella’s Mum) calls from the other side “Come on girls” and we run to join her.

We stand with our mouths wide open, while we are pointing at the Meerkats and continuously going “Ooh,”Trying to catch their attention, but it never works.

I love the Meerkats.

 Our topic this term is land,Sea and Sky. Lately we have been doing things around our topic like writing about plants. Mrs P gave us a model to follow called blackbird. When we wrote the poem we had to describe a dead plant I chose a flower. This is my poem.

Supina's Holiday Challenges

These holidays we were challenged to complete seven challenges, one of which was to go 3 days without technology. This was (in my opinion) the hardest, but surprisingly I wouldn't mind doing it again. Anyways whoever completed all the challenges would name our new fish, and it was...... ME! In room 4 we made play dough for our stop motion videos for topic. First we had to watch a video with recipe. Then we had to make a slide presentation with the ingredients and method in our own words. We then had to find the prices on the countdown website and figure out how much it would cost to make play dough. After that we put the method into our own words, and finally we got to make play dough according to the presentation we made. Enjoy the movie.

Sign Language Week

We have been learning sign language for NZSL week. Together as a class we came up with all the signs that we had learnt from the game Sign Ninja. Then we got into groups and used the words that we already knew to write a story and we learnt the words in between that make the story make sense. We practiced our lines and made videos to show our learning. Here is some group's work.

We followed the model "If I were a storm" and wrote as if we were a soldier because lately we have been doing lots of work around ANZAC.

I did some writing about what fire is and if she was a male or a female.we followed a model that Mrs p gave us then we had to get into groups to make a power point to record us reading our poem that we writ on each slide then i had to find picture that represents fire to show everyone what fire can do to you.

We have made some business cards to give to our parents to invite them to our open class day.  We will be sharing the Learn Create Share model with them and to show how confident we are in using Google Drive.  We look forward to sharing all our great learning.

For writing we had to create an ad. The purpose was to promote our book that we wrote in room 4.For this we had write a catchy phrase that made the reader want to read our book. Then we had to give info about the characters in the book and what the book was about. The ad that we created had to persuade the audience. So that they were convinced to read our book. It was really fun to create an ad to promote our class book.
