Room 7's Matariki Art

In room 7 we did some art for matariki. The Korus in this art represent how many people are in each of the students whanau.  This Art work was inspired by an idea from Pinterest and we created the meaning for ourselves following the Seven Sisters story.  We used pastels and looked at warm and cold colours.  We weaved it using kebab sticks.

Video was put together by Jordan.

  1. Kia ora Room 7,
Thanks for sharing your art work. What a great idea, to use koru to represent how many people are in your whānau. Could you tell me more about weaving with kebab sticks? I'm not sure what this means.

  2. Talofa Lava,
It's me Kayci here from Te Waka Ako at Waikowhai Primary School. I really love how you guys made patterns that were related to Matariki. I also like how you put the images of your work onto a slideshow. Maybe next time you could make the slideshow a bit slower so when we look at the pictures, we know the names of the people in your class and also see the beautiful patterns you made. It made me think about when it was Matariki we had to make stars. It was really complicated to make them but if you don't give up you know that you will finish. 4. Kia ora Room 7, From WPS. Your art work is amazing! I really liked it! Our senior syndicate just finished doing Tessellation art! I was wondering Was it fun? How long did it take? Maybe you can slow down the time between pictures because it was hard so some of them because of how fast they were going! Besides that I loved it! Keep up the good work!
