All parents and whanau who want to leave us a comment. Here is a tutorial that Manveen and I (Ben) have created for you. It tells you how to find our class blog. Earthquakes

Did you know that fault lines don't actually go throughout the whole of New Zealand? I do NOW
Did you know that Liquefaction is when the waste and water pipes break and leave liquid all over the ground? I do NOW
Did you know that there's such thing as a Richter scale that rates the earthquake? I do NOW

Just two days ago I didn't have a clue about earthquakes but thanks to the NZ Shakeout I learnt that Three simple things can save your life-DROP, COVER , HOLD! I also learnt that geologists study the earth and that there are four main layers of the earth and when Deformation occurs it is when the ground gets uneven. People are more prepared then before since the Christchurch Earthquake.

Term 4

Hi everyone

I hope you had a great holiday and you are all ready for our busy term ahead.  
We have 2 new additions to our classroom that has been long overdue.  I will leave it up to you what you name them.

I have a new challenge this term that I would like to introduce.  The aim is to get your parents to visit our class blog, your individual blogs and to leave a comment.  I will keep a running tally as to who gets the most comments from their parents. You all know what quality comments are and I wonder if could teach your parents or we put up a video to explain what a quality comment is? or we could have an afternoon where we invite the parents in to show them.  We will discuss this week how we can achieve this.  What do you think?

Ball Skills with Mr Hull

Mr Hull has been coming to do PE skills in our Senior Syndicate once a fortnight. He has taught us some really good games to learn how to catch and throw the ball correctly

I did some writing about what fire is and if she was a male or a female.we followed a model that Mrs p gave us then we had to get into groups to make a power point to record us reading our poem that we writ on each slide then i had to find picture that represents fire to show everyone what fire can do to you.

Our open class this morning

Thank you to all of those parents who came to our open class this morning we look forward to the parents who are coming this afternoon. The kids parents who  came had to watch a a presentation that some of the students had made. Teagan Sienna and Malaika took pictures and Sienna uploaded them and put them on a collage maker.

We have made some business cards to give to our parents to invite them to our open class day.  We will be sharing the Learn Create Share model with them and to show how confident we are in using Google Drive.  We look forward to sharing all our great learning.  

Variety show

This week as been a full on week. On Monday we had a dress rehearsal on Tuesday we performed for the grandparents and mums with toddlers on Wednesday we had a  night show on Thursday we had another night show and. Today on Friday we are performing in front of the whole school so we can see the other classes performances. Teagan did all the dancers make up and Meagan did Ashley's Mrs P did our hair into Buns we had the best 2 nights the crowed started to clap on long to our performance. It was a fun and awesome show.

PCS Cross Country

On Wednesday 12 August we had our School Cross Country and these are our year 6 Boys Winners From left we have Harley in Third Place, Ben in First place and right hand side is Oliver in 2nd place. Our year 6 Girl Winners From left is Sarah in 2nd place, Sanna in 3rd place then on the right is Shayne in first place. Well done to all who participated in our Cross Country. It was an exciting event.

Problem Solving

My name is Meagan and Mrs Paniora has been experimenting on different learning styles. Her Latest one [my personal favourite] has been awesome. Every one gets a turn to have a laptop for the whole day to do work that she's planned. There's heaps of work but that just means she works really hard. But anyway here's my math work, it's based on problem solving. By Meagan

The Variety show

\ The Variety show is coming up and room 4 are doing They're own learning parodys-except using three of them in a MIX!!! Meagan [me] is playing the trumpet and Bens playing the drums, isn't it just AWESOME. We are using Bills [Tests] By lunchmoneylewis, Move [Hey school kids] by little mix and for the winning song UPTOWN CLASS [Uptown Funk] we've worked very hard, for instance Teagan who choreographed the whole thing! I've got to say everyone all pulled their weight to. The Funny thing is that the drummer doesn't even know how to play the Drums so The Trumpet player had to write it by ear [hahaha] I hope everyone who comes enjoys it -Meagan [The Trumpeter]

Hockey

On Thursday 30th July Room 4 played hockey with Madison and Jordan from Youth town. We learnt new skills and some people improved on skills they already knew. We played a cool game and did awesome warm ups.

Ma'a Nonu

We had a special assembly on Wednesday.  It was a big surprise! Guess who came Ma'a Nonu.  He is an All Black and also plays for the Hurricanes.  He handed out special certificates to the students who were awesome learners. They got to shake his hand.  We also had a Q & A and Mrs P, Meagan and Ben got to ask him a question.  The students who go to the after school care SKIDS were allowed a photo with him and those who played Rugby.  Even the teachers got to have a photo.  Lucky them!!!!

For writing we had to create an ad. The purpose was to promote our book that we wrote in room 4.For this we had write a catchy phrase that made the reader want to read our book. Then we had to give info about the characters in the book and what the book was about. The ad that we created had to persuade the audience. So that they were convinced to read our book. It was really fun to create an ad to promote our class book.

Recipe

Recipe for Managing Self

Ingredients

1 Tbsp. of self-motivation
2 Tsp. of self assessment
1 cup of ''can do" attitude
100 grams of capability
1 litre of independents
2 handful of fun

 

Method 

1. Pre heat oven 120 degrees
2. Add independents put in self assessment
3. Mix until soft and fluffy. then sift reliability and capability together and mix .
4. Pour the  ''can do" attitude in to the mixture. and mix together.
5. Put in oven for 10m to bake bring out of oven and sprinkle 2 handfuls of FUN on top.

Try this recipe and will become INDEPENDENT!
